The Care Closet @ NKU offers free clothing to assist NKU students assist in finding appropriate interview wear and everyday needs. Visit our new location University Center 142.
The space was renovated through generous donations from California Closets and supported by the Care Closet, a non-profit organization in Newport that supports students across our region in accessing clothing.
In 2020-21, the Care Closet @ NKU offered referrals for students throughout the pandemic. Over 60 NKU students submitted requests for clothing and either picked up or had dropped off bags of free clothing. The permanent location in the University Center opened for appointments on May 24. The space was renovated through donations from California Closets and supported by the CARE Closet, a non-profit organization in Newport that supports students across our region in accessing clothing.
The IHI spearheaded the development of Opportunity House, a joint venture with Brighton Center to provide low-income housing and wrap-around support services for opportunity youth attending college.
Opportunity House will be located next to Callahan Hall on ML Collins and is scheduled to open in 2022. In June, Governor Andy Beshear presented a check for $1 million to support Opportunity House renovations.
