WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Innovative thinking, entrepreneurial dispositions, critical and creative thinking, collaboration, drive, and the ability to analyze and challenge one’s schema are all sought after skills in today’s economy.  These skills are essential components of NKU’s gifted and talented endorsement program.

Gifted and talented students and those with high abilities need opportunities and innovative educational experiences that enable them to make continuous progress.  NKU’s gifted and talented education endorsement courses will provide you with the opportunity to explore the variations in learning and development among gifted learners; establish and sustain challenging learning environments; develop innovative evidence-based instructional and curricular strategies; and develop inclusive collaborative opportunities to support gifted and talented students, their parents, and educators.

The gifted and talented education endorsement courses are offered online and can be completed within one academic year.

What You Can Teach

The gifted and talented education endorsement provides valuable experience and resources for classroom teachers, counselors, administrators, librarians, and other community leaders in meeting the special nature and needs of students who are gifted and talented, developing skills for planning and implementation of differentiated educational programming, and applying instructional models and strategies.  Those with a base teaching certificate can add the gifted education endorsement (Primary through Grade 12) to their certificates.
