NKU Brass and Woodwind students are provided an excellent array of opportunities for growth as solo performers and in ensembles. In addition to the usual mixed ensembles, students can perform in the Brass Choir, and various small chamber groups at the discretion of applied music faculty. Performance in these ensembles develops individual concept of sound, increased independence of playing and advancement of musicianship.

Ensembles

The unique nature of Brass Choir provides a complement to both solo and large ensemble performing experience. Brass Choir operates on a pool-of-players concept, performing works of varied instrumentation.

Woodwind Chamber Music is offered each semester. Students may sign-up as a preformed group or, at the discretion of the Woodwind Area Coordinator, be placed in a chamber group. Chamber music groups receive coachings by faculty members and perform each semester in the Woodwind Chamber Recital in Greaves Hall.
