Economic Analysis and Business Research.

The Center for Economic Analysis and Development engages in economic analysis and business research, conducting high quality, objective research on issues related to the current and future economic well-being of businesses and communities throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. We collect, analyze, and disseminate business, economic, and demographic data providing timely information on current and future trends. Specific activities include, but are not limited to, regional economic and industry forecasts; workforce projections; industrial surveys (employment/technology needs); population projections; cost-benefit studies; basic data collection; and basic demographic research.

Economic/Fiscal Impact Analysis

With virtually every type of economic activity a ripple effect occurs. A company or organization hires other companies to do construction and provide services, and also pays employees, who then go out and spend their earnings on goods and services. An economic impact analysis quanitifies this ripple effect and is a great way for organizations and companies to show their return on investment. Click on some of the links below to see some examples of economic impact analyses.

Labor Force/Workforce Analysis

Every industry needs qualified talent to grow. Regions that successfully produce, attract, and retain that talent are positioned to strengthen their competitive advantage when actionable insights are available. CEAD has a robust history of producing quality talent supply and demand analyses -- which help organizations understand what occupations may be suffering a talent shortage, and what talent may be in oversupply.

Occupational Forecasting

Which jobs are in high demand? Which jobs are will likely be in decline? Understanding where your region's future demand will be is critical in assessing industry infrastructure, and attracting key industries to your region.

Performance Indicator Metrics/Metric Development

Every successful region tracks progress. But are the right metrics being used? Is there an ongoing discussion of changing priorities in the midst of constantly shifting market needs? CEAD has a long history of helping regional planning organizations develop and maintain quality, actionable metrics to measure progress to goal. We put these metrics in a broader social and economic context to afford our clients a deeper and clearer understanding of what may be underlying the changes in regional metrics.

Strategic Initiative/Public Policy Analysis

Strategic iniatives and public policies often have wide-sweeping fiscal and economic effects. Thinking about universal pre-k? Is your region under a HUD Fair Housing mandate? How much would it cost to implement these? Are tax levy's a viable solution? If so, how much? CEAD conducts survey and analysis services for a variety of strategic initiatives and policy solutions.
